Why Am I Not Losing Weight Despite Increasing My Activity Level?
The television talk shows, the magazines, and even the federal government have discussed the need to modify daily activity to improve cardiac fitness and global well-being. We have taken their limited advice and started taking the stairs instead of the elevator whenever possible. We started parking farther from the grocery store and loading our own bags. We make sure to walk or bike instead of drive to the neighbors living all the way on the other side of the subdivision. Great! Unfortunately, this isn’t going to make that 30-50lbs come off by the “Forty and Fabulous” birthday bash approaching ever-so-quickly on the calendar. So then we arrange to meet with friends when possible for a walk a couple times a week or buy the “good sneakers” and renew the gym membership in hopes things will be different with this time. Yet we still cannot get those pounds off. Why?
