Shred Guitar Basic Start Here
Learning Shred guitar is in large part knowing where you need to start. Whenever one of my students expresses the desire to learn shred guitar, I show them that the best place to begin is first practicing patterns, scales, and left hand right hand coordination. To effectively learn lead guitar you must become very familiar with the fret board especially from a music theory point.
As you learn lead guitar, the importance of working to master scales and patterns can not be stressed enough. There is a system available for fret board training called Fret board Logic. This system will eliminate years of practice and lessons, and assist you in mastering the fret board with little effort very quickly. Being a student that wants to master shred guitar, you will be focused on gaining maximum speed. The majority of my students that approach me to learn shred guitar, have an extremely strong desire to master the art clean speed.
Shred guitar is a style of lead guitar that utilizes a few forms of picking and motion that develops a very fast style of playing. As you learn lead guitar, it is necessary to master left and right hand coordination. Left hand right hand coordination is accomplished utilizing variations of techniques and exercises specifically designed to maximize your speed along with your coordination.
If you want to learn lead guitar, it is a necessity even with an outstanding coach and or teacher, that you also have a system that involves a systematic measurable approach with specific drills that you are able to practice on a continual daily basis that will measure your advancements as you learn lead guitar. I call these exercises finger aerobics.
You must also learn concepts such as, picking strategies, how guitar speed really works, and the various types of motion. Also as you learn lead guitar, you absolutely must learn to focus on simple but highly effective drills. Focus on different types of Phrasing and Fingering (e.g., patterns, scales, chromatic, etc.) Another form of practice to utilize as you learn lead guitar is to practice along with a wide array of other musicians.
I’ve found one of the best forms for this is by utilizing what is known as Jam Trax, or backing tracks. Jam tracks are no more than recorded tracks of other artists playing noted rhythm tracks which allow you as the lead guitarist to jam along with them.
When you utilize backing or Jam tracks, they will usually give you the musical key that each backing track on the cd is in, you then simply practice playing lead guitar over the backing tracks. This is really a much more effective way to learn shred guitar than by struggling with the inherent hassles of trying to play with other musicians. The reason for this is when you practice with other artists, quite often the artists you are practicing with are not very well developed, and can actually mess your practice up because you began to get used to practicing with say a bass player that can’t stay in key, and or a drummer that doesn’t keep good time.
Also while you learn shred guitar, the absolute most important part is that you receive maximum benefit from every second of practice, this requires utilizing the ideal Speed Curve. Training within the Ideal Speed curve will ultimately ensure that you always are working in the zone. Working in the zone will make every practice, and every second of your practice count. I trust this information will help you to get an informative start as you learn lead guitar.
